ACADEMY PROGRAM
 
 
Come join the second season of Nature Coast Soccer League’s Academy program.  
 
What is an Academy? The Academy concept is a way of training younger youth players the fundamental skills of soccer in a non-threatening environment with kids of similar abilities by knowledgeable coaches and trainers. This method has become widely accepted among soccer professionals worldwide and is advocated by our State Organization, the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA).
 
How will Nature Coast Soccer League’s Academy be run? By signing your child up for the Academy, you child will attend 10 training sessions on Tuesday nights (U-8) or Thursday nights (U-10) starting at the beginning of the regular recreational season. Academy kids will be assessed at the beginning of the season and put into groups with similar skills. They will be assessed again at the end of the season. He/she will continue to practice with his/her assigned team on regularly scheduled night(s) and on Saturdays, he/she will play on his/her regularly assigned team. Experienced coaches from the competitive side of our league will be designing the sessions, coordinating the drills and working with the kids. Several recreational coaches will also be involved in helping run the practices.
 
What will my child learn?  Sessions will be designed to develop and improve the core foundational soccer skills of ball handling (dribbling), passing and receiving and shooting. These skills are the most fundamental and important building blocks in becoming a quality soccer player. The sessions are also designed to be fun!!
 
What is the Cost?The cost will be $30.00 for the 10 sessions plus two assessment sessions. This works out to less that $3.00 per session!!
 
Why is the cost so inexpensive?Nature Coast Soccer League is a non-profit organization staffed by volunteers dedicated to improving youth soccer and to make the sport more rewarding to all players. This cost was determined to cover the administrative costs of the program.
 
Is space limited? Yes, there are 48 spots for each age group, first come first serve.
 
Does my child have to be a “good” player to be in the Academy?No, the Academy is for all kids no matter what their ability. First year players are welcome. We do ask that your child come prepared to learn and have the proper equipment (ball, shin guards, soccer cleats).

Do you live in Citrus or Marion County? If you do, then Nature Coast Soccer League is the choice league for you! This is our 7th season. We had over 675 players last year and are still growing! We will continue to grow to meet the needs of the Central Ridge area. We look forward to playing at our new soccer facility located in the Central Ridge Park on Hwy 491.

Nature Coast Soccer League, an official Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) Region C League, will be holding registration for the 2010-2011 season at Central Ridge Park.  Registration dates for the 2010/2011 season are posted.

A COPY (not the original) of your child's state issued birth certificate is mandatory at registration for the league to keep. We cannot register your child with FYSA without it (if you have played with NCSL prior, you don't need to provide another B/C).

The fee for registration is $75 per player. Games will be played on Saturdays at the Central Ridge Park off Hwy 491 in Holder (Where Central Citrus plays Little League). Opening day is coming soon. 

Each player will need to provide their personal equipment such as shin guards, which are mandatory, an appropriate size ball, and cleats (optional). Uniforms will be provided by the league.
