⚡️ Lady Lightning Representing ⚡️

Writer: Joel WaldropJoel Waldrop

⚽️⚡️ It was a hot, action packed weekend at the Upper 90 Preseason Challenge! We are so proud of all our teams that put in the extra work to prepare for this tournament! Great start to the season!

The 2016 Girls hit the field for the 1st time as a team and man did they make a statement. They found the back of the net 11 times and held their opponent to 0! Game 2 didn't go as well and they were ultimately defeated 5-1. On day 2, our girls dominated once again defeating their opponent and earning a spot in the championship match! They played their hearts out but ultimately came up 1 short of claiming the top spot! We think that is a pretty good start to their young career! 😉

The 2013 Girls played some great teams and battled it out all weekend! They had a bit of a slow start in game 1 and were defeated 5-0. They came back for game 2 ready to play! Our girls set the pace the entire game and dominated the field claiming a 3-0 victory. They had an 8am game on day 2 but woke right up and went back to work! They defeated the St Pete Raiders 3-1 claiming a spot in the championship match against the team that beat them 5-0 the first game. The girls were not discouraged from their previous loss and came out swinging! They set the pace for the majority of the game and put one in the back of the net 1st! They held their opponent to 1-0 until the last 20 minutes of the game. Our girls were short on subs due to illness/injuries and ultimately ran out of gas allowing their opponent to take the lead and win the championship.

The 2010 Girls and Upper 90 defending champions played some great soccer! They had a similar weekend as the 2013 Girls starting a little slow in game 1. They were defeated in game 1 but didn't let that discourage them in game 2. They came back strong and dominated the field claiming a 4-0 victory over Florida Premier FC! Similar to the 2013 Girls, they woke up ready to play on day 2! They dominated the field once again and found the back of the net twice and held their opponent to 0 earning a spot in the championship match. They battled it out the entire game but ultimately were defeated in the final.

We will be coming for that top spot next year!!!
